Interactive fun for all the family. Home to the largest collection of toys in Cornwall ! Learn about the history of Liskeard and local people, trades, crafts and the important mining heritage.

  • Cornish Heritage

    From 1700 to 1914, the metal mining industry played a vital role in the area. It was a dangerous profession! Learn about the mining and the terrible accidents and illnesses the miners and their families had to endure.

  • Mining and Geology

    See the story of the tin, silver copper and other amazing minerals. Learn how deep the mines were and who worked above and below ground.

  • Local People

    Learn about the history of health in the area. Explore stories of local characters such as Emily Hobhouse who changed the lives of many during the Boer War and Dorothy Penrose Foster who was awarded medals for bravery in WW1.

  • War Without Glamour

    A new exhibition telling the fascinating story of a local lady Emily Hobhouse, whose efforts during the Boer War changed the lives of many.

  • Fantastic Toys

    The best toy exhibition in Cornwall ! We have an extensive collection of the history of modern and older toys at the museum.

Great family facilities and a large research room

We are closed until 4th January 2021 when the ground floor Toy and 50s/60s Living Memory Exhibitions will be open to view.
Usual open hours: Monday to Friday 10-4pm and Saturday 10-1pm all year
