Joining Forces is a project delivered in partnership with Cornwall Museums Partnership, Helston Museum, and Active Plus, together with the artist Tony Minnion, a curator, and volunteers. It aims to bring together the forces community and the wider civilian community. It has been generously funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund and the Cornwall Councillor Community Chest Grant Scheme.

The theme for both the project as a whole and the exhibition is military stories, in particular the military story of Helston and RNAS Culdrose.

The exhibition joins two strands of the Joining Forces project: creative workshops; and the stories, research and artefacts collected by a group who have been meeting fortnightly at Helston Museum.

The objects and photographs in the exhibition have been selected by the group from the Museum’s collection of photographs connected to Culdrose, and their own military artefacts.

The artwork exhibited is the result of nine creative workshops with five different community groups during January and February 2017. Two Culdrose Community Centre groups, the Happy Crafters, and Friends and Family group, a group at The Clies, and pupils from both Helston and St Michael’s Schools who worked with the artist, Tony Minnion over the course of five weeks.
