Industrial Heritage Conference at Wheal Martyn
Cornwall has an incredibly rich, varied and fascinating industrial heritage. Cornwall can proudly celebrate its influence in advances in the development of metalliferous mining, mineral mining, stone quarrying, fishing, farming and transportation - to name but a few of the highlights in industrial development.
On Friday 23rd March, Wheal Martyn are holding their fourth Industrial Heritage Conference - “Industrial Heritage Buildings and Collections – Challenges and Experiences”. The conference will explore how our incredible historic industrial buildings raise challenges but also offer wonderful opportunities for heritage learning. Wheal Martyn’s 4th Industrial Heritage Conference aims to highlight the specific challenges faced when managing industrial heritage buildings, in particular, when the modern purpose of the building is to display collections and interpret heritage stories.
Gemma Martin, Education Officer at Wheal Martyn, commented “We are delighted to have such a wonderful range of experienced speakers for the conference. We have representatives from across the country – from Lion Salt Works in Cheshire, Historic England, Bristol Museum and specialists in the field of collection care and conservation”.
Places are available for delegates to attend the conference, whether you are a museum specialist, curator, amateur archaeologist or just an enthusiast! Contact Beth Martin on 01566 771930 or book online at www.wheal-martyn.com , tickets are £20 and include refreshments and lunch.
