Hayle Heritage Centre provides a fascinating history of the town and surrounding area of Hayle. We have a number of permanent exhibitions and a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions and workshops (for both adults and children).

  • First car in Cornwall

    In the early 1900's Harvey Company Ltd bought the first car in Cornwall and employed Sam Ellis as their driver.

  • Mr Bickle

    This picture shows Mr Bickle of Harvey Company Ltd - standing in a mis-cast made for the largest steam engine ever built.

Admission & prices

The centre is open on Tuesdays to Fridays, 11am - 4pm and the occasional Saturday from 11am - 3pm. Please check our Facebook and Twitter pages, or give us a call in advance, if you are planning to visit on a Saturday to avoid disappointment. The centre is free to enter.

Find us

You will find us at the north end of Hayle near Asda, just off the roundabout beside the viaduct. Our entrance is next to Salt Bar through the metal gates. Parking is available in Foundry Square car park which is a short walk from out door.

Hayle Hertiage Centre is a great place to explore the history of the town both child and dog friendly, there is a permanent free exhibition that gives an overview of the towns history. you can also find oral history records, photos, maps, books and walking guides to help discover this fascinating town. We also run a rolling programme of events and activities, keep an eye on our website and press for more details.

We are wheelchair accessible and dogs are also welcome
