Museum Description

Liskeard and District Museum is situated in the award winning renovated Henry Rice building, known as Foresters Hall.  The museum aims to link the past, the present and the future of Liskeard and its surounding areas in an interesting and informative manner for visitors of all ages.

The displays concentrate on local people, organisations, trades, professions and industries together with the events that have shaped the history of our locality.  These include changes in mining and agriculture, building and architecture, places of worship, local government and the lives, loves and labours of members of our community, the managers and their workers, the rich and the poor, the healthy and the poorly.

In April 2007 the museum and information centre became a member of Cornish Mining Attractions Marketing Association (CMAMA) which works with the World Heritage Site to ensure a high quality visitor experience consistent with World Heritage status.  At CMAMA attractions you can find out about the historical and cultural significace of the World Heritage Site and other places to visit which tell the story of Cornish mining.
