Rocks and roots is a workshop aimed at KS2.  Through scripted plays based on census material the children act out the drama of a Cornish farming family at census time in 1851 and 1891.  Each playlet draws out general themes being played out at the time: industrialisation, emigration, the collapse of the mning industry, schooling and child labour. After lunch the plays are performed in the theatre area in costume, which is followed up with a discussion of the changes discussed.  The children also handle artefacts, look at photographs and make butter.

Schools need to provide their own packed lunches.

If you are interested in an outreach session please contact Tracey to discuss possibilities.
