MAGnet (Museums & Galleries Network)
Museums & Galleries Network in Cornwall
MAGnet supports the development of education and learning in museums, arhives, and galleries across Cornwall. It is open to both volunteers and professional staff, and performs a number of functions:
Meetings
Report on meeting for 20th March 08. See supporting documents below.
The next MAGnet meeting will be on Monday 3rd November. Detrails of the venue to be confirmed.
This is a chance for anyone interested in Museum or Gallery learning to share news and to catch up with what is going on across the county and region. The aims of MAGnet are outlined in first issue of the newsletter. MAGnet is here to address our needs and your contributions are welcomed - if you can spare any time to keep meetings, training and news going it will be greatly appreciated by the group. Many thanks to Fiona Young at Geevor Tin Mine for offering to offer to organise meetings. Anita Pryor will continue to do administritive tasks and provide support.
Newsletters
There are seven issues - the most recent covers the summer period. The newsletter is going to be simplified to articles submitted by museums themselves which can be posted up on this web page. Please send articles to Anita Pryor.
Skills sharing
MAGnet liaises with GEM and MLA Southwest to keep training purposeful. Focus for small museums at the moment is on Care of Collections. MAGnet will continue to focus on 'learning' in it's wider sense.
If you would like to find out about the help and support available to smaller museums wishing to develop their learning potential please contact Anita Pryor on 01872 272 205 ext 248, or anita.pryor@royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk

Help with PDF's
To view and print any document which is in pdf (Portable Document Format) you will need Adobe Reader. This program is free to download from the Adobe website.
You can also visit access.adobe.com for useful resources to help people with disabilities work more effectively with Adobe Reader software.
To convert PDFs to HTML or text formats use the online conversion tools for Adobe PDF files.
Some pdf files may be large. This means that they may take a long time to download, especially if you have a slow connection to the web.
