The rain on Saturday 21st May did not stop Liskeard Town Hall from becoming packed during the Grand Family History day.

Held between 10am-3pm, museums and History societies gathered together for a day of learning and nostalgia. Involved were Plymouth & West Devon Record Office; Cornwall Family History Society; Cornwall On Line Parish Clerks; Devon Family History Society; Kresen Kernow; Liskeard Old Cornwall Society; St Neot Community Archive; Polperro Family History Group; Cornwall's Regimental Museum; Saltash Heritage Museum & Local History Centre; Torpoint Archives; Eliott's Shop (TPS); Liskeard & District Museum; Stuart House; Looe Museum; Launceston Museum; Callington Museum; Bodmin Town Museum; Lostwithiel Museum; and Fowey Museum.

Bryony Robins and Rachel Bell from Cornwall Museums Partnership willingly lent their hends to the event, showing support to the stall holders and assisting with the refreshments.

The day was a huge success. People got chatting, engaged with their family's pasts, and learned more about the museums and hostory societies present at the event. Some stallholders were on the lookout for people who could identify people in old photographs, some presented the services they could offer to help people learn more about the past, and some presented records of names and photographs for the public to look through. Books were sold, and there were opportunities for the public to learn about volunteering with many of the museums. Home-made cakes were in abundance and the event, free to the public, turned a profit thanks to the purchase of cakes and drinks.
