Padstow Museum is on the move

The good news is we are on the move.

Today we have taken possession of the keys of our new venue, we are moving to the old station house complex adjacent to the Padstow harbour side car and coach park park at the end of the Camel Trail.

We have been afforded this new venue by the Padstow Town Council on a 25 year lease, the space we occupy is part of the newly  rebuild of station house.

As a Museum established in 1971 we have long had the ambition to be able to accommodate disabled people, in the new Museum there will be 100% disability access from the car/coach park.

We hope to be able to attract more volunteers who were unable to participate our activities in the old building due to the inaccessibility of the staircase, volunteering to help will not be too demanding training, will be given and support will be readily available for those who wish to help, the environment is pleasant, as is the outlook there will be the opportunity to socialise and meet with members of the public which as I can testify is very therapeutic.

We welcome new volunteers, if anybody wishes to take advantage of this opportunity, would they please contact our Secretary Daphne Hicks or our Chairman John Buckingham or any of the committee. To find our email address or contact numbers please look at our website    padstowmuseum@chynoweth.co.uk or email    museum@chynoweth.co.uk

We have employed designers Scribble and Nonsense who are a Cornwall based company to produce the displays in the new premises, the project is being overseen by museums support officer Stephanie Meads aided by a steering sub - committee of experienced volunteers.

Our ambition is to bring the museum up to date without losing too much of the ambience of the old museum, eventually our aims will be to introduce voice-overs, hearing loops, and interactive facilities, this will be an ongoing progression of work after the settling down period. We are predicting that our opening date will take place at Easter 2018 this obviously will be subject to satisfactory progress in the installation
