Schools and learning

At Liskeard Museum we are a supporter of Kids in Museums.  We strive to provide a welcoming and inspiring place for young people.

Resources available

The Daniel Gumb room holds a fascinating exhibition of minerals and mining. Children can use the flash cards and magnifying glasses to learn more about minerals, learn the story of tin, silver and copper as well as use the Enlightened Eye. For a small donation we can provide provide schools boxes of various topics which can be borrowed by your school to support curriculum activities.

Our strengths

We are a small but facinating museum where history is bought to life. From the recent hisory of toys and the impact of materials such as plastic on the environment, to the past people and trades of the area.

Facilities available

Please contact us if you would like to organise a school visit or if you provide home schooling and would like to come in as a group. Volunteers are happy to act as guides for your visit. We also welcome invitations for us to come to your school and talk about the museum and the history of the local area. We have a small research room and work area for use by visitors.

Other places to visit in the area

Why not visit us by train? We are on the main GWR line and only a short walk from the station.
