Our Next Event
World War 1 Exhibition
When: 18 April 2014 to 11 November 2014
Where: Elliotts Store
Looking ahead to 2014, Elliotts Store will be joining with numerous other organisations in staging an exhibition to commemorate the start of World War 1 (1914 -1918), 2014 being the 100th anniversary of the start of this conflict, believed at the time to be the "War to end all Wars".
Members of the Elliott family were involved in the war, so we feel it appropriate to honour the Elliott family and the countless others who gave not only their services but also their life.
The exhibition will run from April through to the end of September although visits can be accommodated up and including 11th November 2014, the anniversary of Armistice Day in 1918 when at the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month in 1918 the guns fell silent.
If any members of the Society or anyone has any memorabilia relating to WWI that they are willing to loan to us for the exhibition, please contact us though the Mailbox on our website firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone Brigette on 01579 384381 and your offer will be directed to the appropriate person.
Please rest assured all items loaned will be safe, treated with the utmost respect and care, and returned to you as soon as the exhibition is finished.
Click the button above to add this museum to your MyMuseum wish list. Once added you can choose to save this for future visits or email the Museum details to a friend.
Elliot's shop - now a museum - reminds us how shopping in Cornwall used to be. Frozen in time, these brands are products that stir fond memories. It finally closed its doors in 1973 after 70 years of trading; Frank Elliot, the last shopkeeper, blamed decimalization and high business rates.
