Cornwalls Regimental Museum

Cornwalls Regimental Museum

Housed in the historic 1859 "Keep", a Grade II listed building, the displays at Cornwall's Regimental Museum tell the story of the development of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Regiment from its formation in 1702 as "Fox's Marines" to the present day. The museum is also the home of the national Light Infantry collection.

Detailed exhibitions including uniforms, weapons, medals and regimental photographs are a must for those interested in the history of Cornwall. Look out for our star objects The George Washington Bible, The Harry Patch collection, and the largest section of the Berlin Wall in the country. Maybe you have a family connection to the Regiment? Come and find out more!

  • Large fragment of the Berlin Wall

The museum has the largest fragment of the Berlin Wall in the country. The display clearly depicts both the East and West sectors of the city of Berlin and guards from both sides.

  • The Lucknow Counterpane

Part of our collection of textile artefacts, the Lucknow patchwork was made by the women of the British residency who were trapped during the siege of Lucknow in 1857. The patchwork is made from the uniforms of fallen soldiers.
